MEC Thanks Mr Jeff Johnson for 25 Years! We come into the new year giving thanks to Mr Jeff Johnson whom has worked for over 25 years for Marshall Errock Construction Ltd. Since inception in 1983, we have maintained a philosophy of recognising ability, loyalty, hard work and skills. We’ve been fortunate as a company along the way to develop many long-lasting relationships with clients and our workforce, and sought to recognise and show appreciation for efforts of all tiers of staff. Prior to Covid Marshall Errock Construction Ltd would often take our Site Teams out, The Stone Masons, Bricklayers, Apprentices, Forklift Truck Drivers, The Labourers, The Hod Carriers, Pan Man and all associated staff. This to develop camaraderie and as a gesture of appreciation for the efforts of all. Jeff Johnson retired from Marshall Errock Construction Ltd in 2021, and his “tongue in cheek” request for a ROLEX WATCH was granted… and was well deserved. The Swan Song project which was the last that Jeff delivered to completion was the mixed-use development – Kings Stables Road in Edinburgh. With a sense of great pride to all the efforts of everyone involved at Marshall Errock Construction Ltd, it has been recognised as one of the finest examples of its type, for stonework, brickwork, design and workmanship by perhaps the highest standards attainable; THE ROYAL INSTITUTE OF CHARTERED SURVEYORS; https://www.rics.org/uk/training-events/rics-awards/rics-awards-scotland-2020/ & THE ROYAL INCORPORATION OF ARCHITECTS* https://www.ribaj.com/buildings/regional-awards-shortlist-2020-scotland-fletcher-joseph-associates-mixed-use-kings-stable-road *RIAS Scottish Award winner 2021 A true mix of uses is integrated into a historic city centre. A once undesirable street is activated by a seven-storey apartment block, student housing, a four-star apart-hotel of studios, garden flats and town houses and four commercial units. Set around public and semi-private courtyards, the development reconnects Grassmarket with the city’s West End. The architectural language, scale and muted palette blends into the Old Town’s fabric: sandstone, grey cladding and render; pitched slate roofs and dormers. The stepped facade bridges the gap between street scale and a large adjacent office building. To all at Marshall Errock Construction Ltd we wish our workforce, clients and all our staff a Happy, Peaceful, Safe, Joyous and Prosperous New Year for 2022, and to our Clients both old and new, thank you for the opportunities that you have given us over the years, and may this continue for many many years to come…. And to Mr Jeff Johnson (Forklift Truck Driver extraordinaire), many thanks from all of us at MEC, and enjoy your well-deserved retirement…. And of course, your ROLEX! MEC | The Engine Yard Development | EdinburghIn 1995, Marshall Errock Construction Ltd were invited by Taylor Woodrow Construction Ltd (now Vinci), to build the Tesco Superstore Development on Grangemouth Road in Falkirk. Little were we to know at the time, that this would be the catalyst for what has developed into a permanent history in Scotland, where we have now worked continually for 26+ years. Building Schools, hospitals, Retail Parks, Prison’s, Medical Centres, and working for the elite of the industry we are proud to be part of. Marshall Errock Construction Ltd work nationally, since inception in 1983, but our introduction into Scotland changed the dynamics of our company - for the better! We have been the recipients of many awards over the years, recognised at The London Brick Awards as first in category. It was with a sense of pride that in 2018, PLACES FOR PEOPLE (who have in DECEMBER 2021 scooped the NATIONAL HOUSEBUILDER award for best design, too much fanfare in the national press); https://homestobuy.placesforpeople.co.uk/news/articles/2021/places-for-people-scoops-top-national-housebuilder-award-for-best-design-at-55-degrees-north/ Chosen from many of the industries specialist Masonry Brick and Blockwork Contractors - Marshall Errock Construction Ltd to “partner” for one of Edinburgh’s largest developments ever of its type. Places for People having won the major accolade at the prestigious Housebuilder Awards, which celebrates the very best in UK housebuilding; has been recognised for its excellence in all aspects of the sector, including customer satisfaction, design, regeneration and sustainability. Marshall Errock Construction Ltd have since worked alongside Places for People since 2018, delivering multiple phases of THE ENGINE YARD development, and we were therefore absolutely delighted when they appointed us – in DECEMBER 2021, to carry out the next phase of this extraordinary development; https://homestobuy.placesforpeople.co.uk/find-a-home/the-engine-yard-edinburgh/ It is fabulous news to continue working, and be chosen by a company who are described as the “Industry best” What an accolade! Whilst the pictures that accompany this post are of the “existing façade” of The Engine Yard, what makes this project exciting is Places for People’s design team’s intention to incorporate this magnificent piece of history and architectural brickwork master-class within the structure of the new phase of apartments. This is going to make them very unique indeed, and in doing so Places for People, together with Marshall Errock Construction Ltd, will be pushing hard to be recipients of the award of BEST IN CLASS FOR DECEMBER 2022. A very happy new year to all involved at our company, and a big thanks to a great client. A wonderful team to be part of. Looking forward to the challenges of 2022.
