MEC have secured the Pitfodels Wood Care Home project in Aberdeen working together with our much valued client - Clark Contracts Ltd.

The 4 storey 65-bed care home overlooks the Deeside Valley providing not only excellent views but also a cinema, café, dining room and beauty salon to its occupants. With a high focus on providing the residents with a comfortable living space, high quality and heat efficient materials will be utilised throughout the walling systems to minimise heat loss throughout the building whilst still achieving an impressive exterior.

On 14 June 2017, a high-rise fire broke out in the 24-storey Grenfell Tower block of flats in North Kensington, West London, at 00:54 BST and burned for 60 hours.

Seventy-two people died, two later in hospital, with more than 70 injured and 223 escaping. It was the deadliest structural fire in the United Kingdom since the 1988 Piper Alpha oil-platform disaster and the worst UK residential fire since World War II.

Following this terrible tragedy, HM Government introduced building regulations, that meant any none-compliant structures were to refurbished in order to be qualify for EWS1 status.

This will involve removing the facades of many multi-story structures throughout the UK, and re-building installing fire-barriers, cavity closures, cavity insulation and tie-details to exacting standards.

At each stage of the works SITE-PRO records of all installation as the works proceeds, will need recording and signing off.

This will develop into a highly specialised section of the Construction Industry and Marshall Errock Construction Ltd are delighted to have been chosen by Q.F.F. (a façade specialist), to carry out the masonry and installation element of the project in Manchester.

We are looking forward to working together as a team to ensure the building our respective companies are working on, will be made safe for generations to come who occupy this structure.

Working hand-in-hand with specialists suppliers to ensure technical compliance of all products installed are pre-approved, which also includes laborious calculus of all support steels that our teams install (overseen at very stage by structural engineers).

MEC together with Q.F.F. will be working professionally together to ensure peace of mind to not only our current client, but future clients in years to come.
