We wished all at our York site a Joyous Christmas, and a Peaceful and Happy New Year for 2021.
Gutted we were denied our traditional Christmas Night out (the first time we have missed in 37-years at MEC).
But we hoped the cases and bottles, brought some good cheers and merriment…
… which Paul Mac started by (nearly), forgetting his own case ha ha!
To all at our Liverpool Site…
Gutted we cannot have our annual night out, a tradition since 1983!
Going out with the Bricklayers, Masons and all staff, has always been the favourite part of my job at MEC.
A Big thanks to all the Liverpool Crew, and of course Colin Halliwell for fabulous efforts throughout the year.
Bottles and cases for each, and thanks from all at MEC.
We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and May Your Yule Have Been Cool.
It may be overdue but we have swapped out the old + tired with the new + improved JCB 540-200 Telehandler. Not only showing commitment to British Jobs in other industries, but also commitment to our clients, ensuring our operatives are supplied with the best machine on the world wide market.
We are showing our determination to re-invest into the sustainability of MEC. A vital piece of machinery on almost any site that will help MEC to reach new heights. If you’ll excuse the pun…
Oldham & Saddleworth based company Marshall Errock Construction Ltd, who won Outstanding Employer of the year award recently.
Have today been announced that the project we carried out the Masonry, Brick & Blockwork at Grassmarket Edinburgh, has been given the accolade of category winner for 2020 by The RICS.
Great “team” effort from all the lads and lasses at MEC.
The Bairds Close 2 (student accommodation) section of Kings Stables has won the “Scotland Student Accommodation Category for the RICS Social Impact Awards 2020”.
Here’s the link confirming it.
From 21 minutes in.
And here’s a link to the post I placed on FB, on completion, very proud indeed of our involvement of this magnificent development;
We have previously won National Building Awards, (building of the year category winners), for;
Tuthill Stairs Development in Newcastle.
Powis Place student Accommodation in Aberdeen
Jamia Mosque in Ashton-U-Lynne.
Despite these national awards, we have never once in 37 years of being based in Oldham & Saddleworth; ever been invited to quote for work for our local council?
This despite attempting to be included on the tender list for a 15-year period before eventually conceding we would not be included to provide a quotation.
Also being proud sponsors in our history of;
Oldham Fire Brigade
Oldham Employment and steadfastly remaining;
Despite financial incentives to re locate elsewhere.
Many of our clients believe we are based in Scotland as 70% + per annum of our turnover is in that wonderful & beautiful country.
Proud to be based and represent Oldham & Saddleworth.

Congratulations to both Reece Macfarlane & Lewis Hallett on successfully gaining their CPCS telescopic telehandler licenses. This following the successful completion of their 3 year Bricklaying NVQ earlier in the year! #youthinvestment #CPCS #forklift
As most all current and former employees of Marshall Errock Construction Ltd are aware, since inception of the company in 1983, we have a policy of having regular nights out all over the UK.
In destinations such as;
- Perthshire..... the list goes on, and we pray that their will be many more good times to come;
Our M.D. (Paul Errock), has stated that it is the best part of his occupation, in spending quality time with members of staff, both office and site alike, in a social as opposed to working environment.
It develops camaraderie, puts a face to a name, and is meant as a small gesture of goodwill, to all the lads and lasses at MEC.
To those that are continuing working on our sites at Nottingham, Stafford, Runcorn and Edinburgh, apologies for having/being forced to have our usual nights out, however...
... on all live sites, every person this week has been given a crate and/or a bottle of their choice, in thanks for your contribution to The Construction Industry, who often go un-noticed.
Well done to you all, stay safe, and we look forward to resuming our catch up's and nights out.
FROM ALL THE MEC TEAM.
Pictured is Paul Mac & Ian Wilson (calm down ladies they are spoken for), and a selection of the favoured requests... (5-crates only per visit ~ took us 4-weeks stock to distribute to ONE and ALL 🙏
WOW what an achievement! Not only have MEC been nominated for Employer of the Year, but our final year student Reece Macfarlane has been nominated for Apprentice of the Year! He's certainly destined for big things this one!
Updated 7th February 2020.
Not a bad day at the office today...
MEC are immensely proud to have been nominated for Employer of the Year, having working collaboratively with Oldham College since the early 90’s in delivering apprenticeships!
But recognition today of course, has to go to Reece Macfarlane ! Not only for competing at World Skills UK, but also being nominated for the Distance Travelled Award... and no that doesn’t mean because you’ve been to Edinburgh & Amsterdam Reece.
Angela Raynor, Shadow Secretary of State for Education even asked him to build her a garden wall!
MEC staff certainly conquered the Maze - even after a beer or two! Much fun had by all for our staff Christmas celebrations at The Crystal Maze in Manchester!
Here's to 2020 everyone!
Take a look at our completed Chester Care Home project now the scaffolding has come down. Proud to always carry out packages to the highest industry standard and hopefully many more to come!
We’re proud to announce that we’re now in the home stretch to completing the brand new luxury student accommodation, flats + hotel with the striking Edinburgh Castle view overhead. The project’s big ambitions + city centre location made for a logistical challenge but continuing to work closely with Bowmer + Kirkland facilitated the project’s progress with minimal issues and we’re excited to work again with Bowmer + Kirkland in future projects to come.
