£30M Project Development at Whitelock St Leeds |

Marshall Errock Construction Ltd in association with Alumno Specialist Student Accommodation Developer, and GMI Construction Group, have been part of a formidable “team” in delivering a striking mixed-use six and seven-storey building in Leeds.
 
A 11,955 square metre project on Whitelock Street,has regenerated a run-down, disused site and comprises 105 units that will house 411 students.
 
Facilities include a range of communal areas, including a central hub, gym, cinema, laundry room, roof terrace with a garden and extensive secure bicycle storage.
 
The atrium features a large frieze based on an abstract painting by celebrated artist Terry Frost, after which the building is named, who taught at Leeds College of Art. (A building in Leeds that MEC also delivered).
 
Andrew Hurcomb, Regional Director of Yorkshire, from GMI Construction, said: “We are exceptionally proud to have delivered this landmark development as part of our ongoing and successful relationship with Alumno.
 
The predominance of brickwork in the facades is a clear reference to this urban, industrial and artisan heritage and celebrates the former clay pits to the west. 
 
Designed by Durham-based architect, Howarth Litchfield, the Whitelock Street project is valued at around £30m and will consist of a single long six and seven-storey stepped block with a gross internal area of around 127,000 sq ft.
 
At ground floor level there will be flexible gallery and studio space to support local artists and will feature workshops, a kiln and exhibition area.
