​Marshall Errock Construction commenced sponsoring Ashton United Football Club in 1989.
 
Sponsoring them each and every year since.
 
Continually for 33-years uninterrupted sponsorship, which we are led to understand that M.E.C. Ltd are the longest sponsors of any non-league club in the U.K. (emphasis on not the biggest sponsor, but the most consistent).
 
The club was founded in 1878.
 
The earliest known match report dates back to a game against Hurst Red Star on 16 March 1879.

Ashton United most famous player was the Dixie Dean who signed for “The Robins” shortly before WWII, but due to the outbreak of the war he made only a handful of appearances for the Club.
 
His legend lives on to this day, as he still holds the record for the most goals ever scored in one season in top flight football (60 league goals in 1927–28).
 
The club is a terrific, is a credit to everyone who is involved, and is grass-roots football at its best.
